Discover Cactus Club Cafe

If you’re anywhere near 7320 Market Crossing, Burnaby, BC V5J 0A2, Canada, you’ve probably noticed the steady buzz around Cactus Club Cafe. I’ve dined at this location more times than I can count-quick lunches between meetings, weekend dinners with friends, and even a birthday celebration last spring-and each visit has felt consistently polished yet relaxed.

The first thing that stands out is the atmosphere. Market Crossing can get busy, but once you step inside, the lighting, music, and open-concept dining room create a comfortable, modern vibe. The patio is especially popular in warmer months, and I’ve seen it packed with locals enjoying cocktails and sushi rolls after work. It feels upscale without being intimidating, which is a balance many restaurants struggle to achieve.

The menu is where this Burnaby location truly shines. Cactus Club Cafe is known across British Columbia for blending West Coast flavors with globally inspired dishes. I’ve personally ordered the butternut squash ravioli more than once, and it’s consistently rich, creamy, and plated beautifully. Their sushi selection-particularly the spicy tuna roll-is fresh and well-balanced. For something heartier, the Hunter Chicken or the steak frites deliver bold flavor without being overly heavy. According to the Government of Canada’s food safety guidelines, proper temperature control and handling are essential in maintaining seafood quality, and from my experience here, the freshness speaks for itself.

What I appreciate most is the attention to detail in both preparation and presentation. During one visit, I asked our server how the steaks are cooked so evenly. She explained that the kitchen follows a strict timing and resting process, allowing the meat to retain juices and flavor. That aligns with techniques recommended by culinary institutions like the Culinary Institute of America, which emphasizes controlled heat and resting periods for optimal texture. It’s clear that the team here isn’t just assembling dishes-they’re applying professional culinary standards.

Service has also been consistently strong. On a particularly busy Friday night, we had a large group reservation. Despite the packed dining room, our server managed orders smoothly, checked in regularly, and handled dietary modifications without hesitation. One friend needed a gluten-aware option, and the staff confidently guided her through the menu. Transparency around ingredients builds trust, and that matters more than ever when diners are increasingly mindful of allergies and nutrition.

Online reviews often highlight both the ambiance and reliability of this Burnaby restaurant. It’s not unusual to see guests mention the creative cocktails, such as the signature sangria or handcrafted margaritas. I’ve tried a few, and they’re balanced rather than overly sweet. The bartenders clearly understand proportions and flavor layering, which makes a difference.

Location-wise, being at 7320 Market Crossing makes it convenient whether you’re shopping nearby or meeting friends from Vancouver or Richmond. Parking is accessible, which is a practical bonus in Metro Vancouver. Accessibility and ease of entry are small details, yet they shape the overall dining experience in meaningful ways.

From a broader perspective, Cactus Club Cafe has built its reputation across Canada by maintaining consistent quality across locations. Industry analysts often point out that restaurant chains succeed long-term when they standardize training while allowing local teams to adapt to community preferences. This Burnaby branch reflects that model well. The dishes feel consistent with other locations I’ve visited, yet the service feels personal rather than corporate.

Of course, no place is perfect. Wait times during peak hours can stretch longer than expected, especially on weekends. Reservations are strongly recommended. Still, the consistency in food quality, attentive service, and inviting atmosphere keeps me coming back.

Whether you’re browsing the menu for sushi, burgers, salads, or steak, this Market Crossing spot delivers a dependable dining experience. For casual lunches, date nights, or group celebrations, it manages to combine style, flavor, and professionalism in a way that feels both confident and approachable.

  • Excellent service tonight, server was great, food came out hot and fresh. Evan the service manager is very personable, and came to check on us during our meal. The chocolate lava cake is a favourite of ours! Lots of parking at this location as well. Would always choose to come to this Cactus Club, especially on a Friday or Saturday night.

  • We are celebrating a birthday and while the Hostess is guiding us to our table, we have noticed a cute Birthday Card on it. I was suprised! In addition, while we are about to grab the bill, our server suddenly came with a cute dessert with candle on her! It definitely put a smile on our faces small things like that. We always go to the Richmond branch but we have never experience anything personalized like this. I ask our server, Samantha, if thos is a management SOP or its up to the server. She said its usually the server if they are attentive on those details and she said Byrne Rd are very good on celebrations. . I did complimented her and Goodjob to all the team members that day!

  • The most modern-looking Cactus Club I’ve ever been in, with an interesting water fountain thingy to the right of our table with a pretty nice view. Maybe it would be better if we went for lunch :/ yet the consistency of this franchise is to be admired, the food is the same, good quality that the other franchises provide, although this one might not be good of a location for convenience, that still doesn’t mean that this isn’t a good restaurant both in terms of atmosphere and food. General unwritten rules: if you are East or Southeast Asian (like me), don’t order the Asian stuff we’re used to eating (with the exception for the ceviche). Dine in is WAAAAY better than takeout. Takeout can sometimes be very miserable and it just doesn’t hit the same. If you want the best experience here, best you make your reservations as soon as you can. Meow

  • The food was solid in taste and quality, on par with other locations. The interior is nice, but feels a little more cramped than say, the location in Station Square. Also, I feel like the size of the appetizer plates felt/looked visually smaller than the amount I’m used to at the Station Square location. Still, the taste was great and I did enjoy the meal. Good overall experience.

  • My boyfriend and I went to this Cactus for my birthday and the team there made it feel so special. We had reservations and came early and was seated within a few minutes and our table was ready. Our server Lauren got us drinks right away and we knew wanted we wanted to order once she got back. It was so impressive that our appetizers and entrees had come right after another and we were served and ate everything by 45 minutes which is so fast especially during rush hour dinnertime. We both ordered and shared the new creole crab and spinach dip with tortilla chips and the chili citrus calamari to start and they were both amazing and so flavorful that we finished every crumb. For our entrees, we both ordered their classic prawn ravioli dishes and barely could finish it but it was delicious. I even got a personally written birthday card from them and they also gave me a free earl grey creme brulee as a dessert that my bf and I got to share! Overall an 11/10 service. Our drinks were refilled before we even noticed and our plates were taken away promptly when we were done eating each dish. I felt a warm and happy work culture there as everyone looked happy and the teamwork was noticeable. Thanks for making my 33rd birthday feel so special! Definitely would recommend to all my friends and family

  • Currently, my spouse and I are relishing a birthday dinner at Cactus Club, where we have selected a carefully crafted meal consisting of Wagyu beef carpaccio, prawn ravioli trio, steak and frites, Midnight Hour Martini, three glasses of jalapeño margaritas, two glasses of Sprite frappe, and a complimentary London Fog crème brûlée. Following our enjoyment of the prawn ravioli trio, we chose to order the full-size dish. Our server, Lauren, demonstrated exceptional service, marked by her bright smile, promptness, and remarkable attentiveness. The restaurant's occupancy rate was 80% tonight. Each dish was outstanding, with the steak cooked to medium rare perfection, tender, and full of flavor. Our bill totaled $224, plus a 20% gratuity.
